Biography
Prof. Karl Ulrich Kainer, Former Director of Institute of Materials Research in Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Head of Magnesium Innovation Center in Helmholtz Zentrum Geesthacht, Professor of Hamburg University of Technology, Germany. Prof. Kainer was president of International Magnesium Association in 2012-2014.
Prof. Kainer has published over 300 ISI-listed publications with a h-index of 33, has orally presented his work over 390 times including 120 invited oral talk, and has been an Editor and co-editor of 13 books and proceedings. He is also an active organizer or co-organizer of many international conferences, including International Conference on Magnesium, International Conference on Processing & Manufacturing of Advanced Materials, and International Conference "Magnesium Alloys and their Applications", etc...
Prof. Kainer has been awarded Japanese Government Research Award for Foreign Specialists by Government Research Institute Nagoya in 1986, Hertha von Firnberg Fellowship by Austrian Research Center Seibersdorf in 1999, Ford Research Award in 1999, Foundation for Polish Science by Alexander-von-Humboldt Polish Honorary Research Fellowship in 2014.
Abstract
This presentation will report changes on requirements on Magnesium alloys and technologies due to changes in the transportation industry due to modified vehicle concepts and more stringent sustainability requirements.
